Log Side Table: The Beginning

This is going to be a multi-part series of posts. As it is going to be a multi day project.

This project is one that D actually suggested.

There are several log slices in the woods by our house from a tree that was taken down and D needs a bedside table so of course our logical thought process was lets MAKE a table from a raw slice of tree.

Raw materials and natural looks are something Dustin and I can agree on when it comes to decor, so this worked out well.

The Plan:

1.Shave/sand/chisel the wood until it reaches the desired smoothness and color.

2.Coat it with a sealant.

3.Decide on a top. (We are thinking about a round glass or acrylic top of maybe just a thick sealant coat on top.)

Sounds simple, right?
It is simple, just time consuming. But I have faith that the end result will be worth it all.

Here is what we have so far:
About 30 minutes into the bark peeling process.

Started chiseling, looking good!

expand your imagination

Expansion is happening!

My adventures in pinning have been amazing and I will continue to draw much inspiration from Pinterest, but my horizons are beginning to expand.

Pinterest and this blog have been an AMAZING conductor of my creativity and now I am finding myself not only wanting to try the pinterest projects but  to use those awesome ideas to stir my imagination and create my own special version of them or something totally new!

I will still do pinterest based projects, but I will be expanding to add some of my own projects and tutorials too.

I have had great feedback from this blog and I plan on keeping it up for a long time, I really appreciate my faithful followers and fellow do it yourself-ers!

Thank YOU!

January Birchbox Review!

January Birchbox!

"CLARITY"

Included in the box:

Viva la Juicy by Juicy Couture
It smells fruity and summery and girly. I think I will probably wear it with my girliest outfits and pearls and ribbons.
ORIGINS Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
I have ultra sensitive skin when it comes to face wash so I was really nervous about trying it, but I am so glad that I did. It is clean and fresh and my new cleanser. It was easy on my skin, but really cleaned it with out being harsh. I just ordered the full size bottle!
stila: Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Peacock
It worked well, and was a nice color, but I'm not a huge eyeliner user. I could definitely see myself using it  for a night out. When I tested it, it went on smooth and was easy to smudge and turn smoky.

VMV Hypoallergenics: Re-Everything Face/Hand/Body Lotion
I have some dry patches on my face and neck and used a little bit of this on thereand it soothed it for a while. It wasn't superimpressive, but it wasn't horrible.

LARABAR Mini Bar: Coconut Cream Pie
For a natural, dried fruit and nut nutrition bar, it tasted OK. I probably wouldn't choose them if I was in the store.

The birchbox team threw a little birchbox magnet in to hold up a list of  life detox reminders.

A cute nice box, perfect for a clean and fresh start to the new year!
